Thank You 2011, Looking Forward 2012

I'm looking forward with 2012.

So far, it has been good to me. So good that it looks so surreal to me. Who am I to say 'no' to these wonderful blessings. But before I start counting my 2012 blessings, I would like to count first my 2011 Blessings:

(not in random order) I am THANKFUL FOR:

- my family, who is always there no matter what
- my friends, always dependable on all times!
- my previous company for hiring me when no one does due to some labor case I filled! hehehe and for allowing me to grow as an employee
- the people I met during my stay in my previous company, for making my stay fun and worthwhile

How time flies

Whew! It's been two months na pala! how time flew so fast. A lot of things happened in those two months - exciting things that I think contributed to my career growth. Been learning a lot from the people I  am working closely with. I've been enjoying my job since day 1. And actually it didn't felt like I was really working since I am enjoying every minute of it.

just a quick rundown of my events life...

At Gun Point

Maybe this will help me ease out what I'm feeling right now. After the traumatic ordeal I had morning for November 18, 2011. I'm quite skeptic in riding public utility vehicles nowadays.

For the benefit of my readers, I was robbed at gun point going home from a theater rehearsal. The robbers pointed a revolver to us (me and my friend) and a balisong (fan knife) and they took everything from us -everything that we had that night - laptop, cash, mobile phones, everything! They just left us alive - which is a good thing. I thought it was our end, since they didn't let us go at first.

Luckily, after the incident, a police car was within the vicinity and helped us. We reported the incident at the nearest police station but alas, we weren't able to pin point the robbers after looking at the gallery and the plate number of the PUJ. hay....

tik-tok, tik-tok

Time flies so quickly.

Just a few weeks back, I filed my resignation and now few more days and ill bid my goodbye to the job that's been generous to me for the past three years.

I am so thankful for the three wonderful years that I've spent with Emerson Electric Asia. It was my honor to be of service for the company.

News Flash

September 2. I received an email from Ms. Idel, informing me of Dominguez Marketing Communications Inc.'s job offer. Gave it great thought over the weekend, and come Monday - September 5 - I called their office and accepted the job!

September 6 - here comes the bitter-sweet part of this decision - informing my supervisor of my sudden decision to leave my post at Emerson Electric Asia-ROHQ. I broke the news jokingly, but it struck me afterwards that I'll be leaving the post I have been for the past three years, and will be leaving behind friends I met along the way. Snapping out of that thought, I realized that this is part of life, that the only constant is change. And I think this is a good move for me.

And as the day progressed, all of the people dear to me in this company had wished me well but showed their regret that I'm leaving but also happy for me to be back where my passion is really is. This last few weeks of my stay will be a bitter-sweet moment. Preparing my turn-over modules to my supervisor and hopefully to my replacement.

So as the final day approaches, I'm making the most out of my stay here. Keeping in mind, not to burn bridges.

UPDATES!

It's been a while since I wrote an entry here and indeed a lot of things happend from my last post up to this day!

My last post was last July, during the very rainy days of it, towards the end of the month..that was such a fuss. Come August, the first weekend was interesting - VERY INTERESTING - wedding event somewhere north, such an headache and trauma, but still we persereve through it. We learned a lot of lesson from it. It would not say its a horrid experience - hey new learning comes from those experiences right? be it good or bad, still it adds some spice to life. Then other celebration came along, birthdays, supposedly anniversary and all. At the end of the month, August was not that bad afterall.

September was a bit smoother, calmer...first week of the month, I got a good news, but it also means a bitter-sweet ending to a career who picked me up almost three years ago. In a month's time I will start a new journey. May time be nice and patience to me as it was for the past years.

Mother Nature at Rage

July 26, 1:15am, I'm working on the 8th floor of a 12-storey building along Edsa, near Pasig River when Manila was hit by an earthquake, everybody on the floor felt the shake that lasted for a bout 2-4minutes. it was nerve wracking! But on the funny side of it! During the quake I and several friend on FB/Twitter was able to update status regarding the incident. Funny. One remark from a friend's friend - "nauna pang i-update ang status kesa isipin ang kaligtasaan...tsk tsk" - which is true!

However Mother Nature is not yet done. Tropical storm Juaning entered the Philippine area of responsibility bringing in heavy wind and rain and as it passes by the country it intensified further thus slowing down threatening Southern and Central Luzon.

And as the whole day progressed, various accidents happened

This is a very gloomy day, indeed...

Buds' Birthday Bash

My good friend Buds turned XX years this month. But since he opted to celebrate his birthday travelling alone to a foreign country, he asked us - Tristan, Lucille and me - to have a post dinner celebration last Sunday June 26, 2011.

Evening of June 26, 7pm but most of us arrived at about 8pm...Dinner at MESA in Greenbelt 5. But before we all met, Buds had a funny situation.he saw his boss and doesn't want to bumped on him so he literally hid himself at the bathroom! paranoid much! On my way to MESA, I saw Tristan and we already asked a table for the four of us. We waited for Buds and Lucille to arrive. After a few minutes Buds, came out of his hiding place and joined us at our table. We alread placed our orders - Laing in two ways, Inihaw Platter, Spicy Seafood Platter, Crispchon, Rice, and Drinks.

Laing in Two Ways

Inihaw Platter

Spicy Seafood Platter

Crispchon

Still waiting for Lucille, we took more picture of the feast we were about to dig in! Buds posed in front of our big feast before we ruin the presentation

happy birthday Buds!

Lucille, arrived a few minutes after the photo-opt so we started digging in. Food was superb. We all enjoyed the night of laughter & catching up. Mood of the night was light and breezy. Our attending waiter, Chuck, was very enthusiactic, so we kinda liked their service because of him, not to mention he is cute! ahahaha

Four of us before dinner!
(Chuck took this photo)

To cap off the night we have two new lesson we learned...That "32 is the new 28" as according to buds and "hot water is new cosmopolitan"

Just to update you guys of the progress of the list I made a few months ago. Last May 16, I was able to cross out list number 21-having a pet dog. Because from that day forward, I have Nala Desierae with me :) She is an adorable, tri-colored dog, who is very full of life and can zap the energy out of me! haha

Industrial Automation General Assembly

Last Monday, June 13, 2011 we, at Emerson Electric Asia - ROHQ Industrial Automation Division had our General Assembly at Crowne Plaza, lead by Jean-Paul Montupet, VP for Industrial Automation. The function started promptly at 5:30 in the afternoon.

Official Invite

Since I am, again, part of the events committee, I was at the banquet hall at around 1pm to start on checking the preparation progress. Everything is going as planned so we were quite happy about it. So come 4pm I started fixing myself for the party, need to glam up a bit for the event. I had my hair fixed early on and I went to my new found friend working in L'Oreal Paris and did my make-up for the night.

my look for the night

The party started promptly at 530pm with Em and Frances as the hosts of the night. To signal the start of the program a video was projected-this video represents the effort of the management team to provide accurate and reliable customer service, then followed by a dance number. Part of the program was the welcome remark from our Business Leader Mareecel Dimaapi and also an introduction by our Operations Manager Emmanuel Beltran. This was soon followed by the open buffet and the Performance Awards - which was a suprise to all employees.

Performance Awardees

One by one employees were called and were presented with a Certificate of Achievement for being one of the Top Performers for the second quarter for the fiscal year 2011.

Me, receiving my Certificate

I was surprised to be called and to be presented with this award. Thanks to the management for recognizing my efforts as an Emerson Employee

Snap shot of the certificate

The night ended with an uplift spirit. Thanks for the encouragement of the management. :)

Brigada Eskwela

June 4, 2011

We have this organization at my present work who handles social responsibility related program. Last Saturday the volunteers headed to Batangas to help in this year's Brigada Eswela - DepEd's program inviting all volunteer to help prepare classroom for the school year 2011-2012. So after our shift, we boarded the vans, hit the road and headed towards NAVERA School in Batangas City.

After an hour and a half ride, we arrived at Navera wherein all the teachers welcomed us warmly. We wasted no time and started with the chores assigned to us. Some went on repainting the walls, some, started cleaning the school grounds, others went into gardening, the boys started digging the compost pit, and I started fixing broken chairs.

The day passed by quickly and before we knew it, there's nothing left for us to do. So we just basked around the school grounds, took photos - a lot of photos, mess with everybody. Just bond and have fun. Then we were surprised that before the program commemorated, the teachers at Navera presented us with certificate recognizing our help in preparing their school for the school year.

May 22, 2011
Aseana City,
5:45am race start for 5K Runners

4:00am. Woke up, ate breakfast, took a bath, prepared my things for the run, and off to the starting point at Aseana City. Aseana City is located along Diosdado Macapagal Blvd, near SM MOA. I arrived at the location about 30minutes before the gun shot. I was able to locate my friends who would be running as well. Was able to took photos to before the run started. To be honest, I'm not at all conditioned for this run, I lacked practice run. But the fighter in me said that I can make it. and will be able to finish this race. So did I run

I finished the at under and hour...if I'm not mistaken, I crossed the finished line at exactly 00:55:04 minutes/seconds. I haven't seen my official time provided by the race's official timer. Nevertheless I am happy with what I've achieved. So after the race, I roamed around and enjoyed all the freebies I could get within the area. Plus got some photos with a group of guys - gorgeous guys - who run as under na group name of "Powerpuff Boys" and the wore Pink singlets! cute!

Pictures to follow .... :)

Just a little under the weather

I'm feeling a bit low. A bit depressed. A bit off-beat.

Reason: I don't know. :|

I guess, I'm having just one of those moments wherein I am feeling something but just can't point my finger into it.

10 things I hate abt you poem - Julia Stiles

10 things I hate about you poem
I hate the way you talk to me,
and the way you cut your hair.
I hate the way you drive my car,
I hate it when you stare.
I hate your big dumb combat boots
and the way you read my mind.
I hate you so much it makes me sick,
it even makes me rhyme.
I hate the way you’re always right,
I hate it when you lie.
I hate it when you make me laugh,
even worse when you make me cry.
I hate it when you’re not around,
and the fact that you didn’t call.
But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you,
not even close…not even a little bit… not even at all.

PNRC: Basic Life Support and First Aid Training

February 19,20 & 26, 2011
SMPC, 19th floor

Initiative of our company's newly formed club called ECLIPSE (Emerson Creates Leaders In Providing Smiles to Everyone) which is for a good cause.

First day. Filipino time. Everybody is late, well not all. but most, even the trainors themselves. Moving on, back to business. Right after everybody had settled in, forms were passed and filled up and given back, formal discussion begun. BLS or Basic Life Support was the first topic, well known as CPR and Mouth to Mouth Resuscitation.

The whole morning and about half of the afternoon was devoted to room lecture. The lecture covered mostly the principle of CPR and Rescue Breathing, proper assessment of the victim and the surrounding, procedure and counting, etc. Lecture was good but the fun part was putting what we learned into action. :) The practical exam -- CPR and Resuce Breathing -- into action was a bit tiring but rewarding once you were able to do it in just one try! ;)

Second day. Similar to what happened the day before, we started late. Tried to squeeze in as much lecture as we can in one day. The other lecturer -- Pao -- was funny and very informative. And since he already had experienced rescue work, he was kind enough to show us the different way and style to carry a victim. Before that they taught us to put bandages using a triangular bandage.

Tiring yet very informative

February 10
Four days shy away from Valentine's day
I remembered clearly
I had my heart broken
by the man I LOVE
whom I thought will be the ONE who will love me for eternity

Now
Everything is in the PAST
this was all now
part of my MEMORY
that will linger FOREVER...

Why Do I Love You?

hay.... words written just hit me!
Colored Candles Burning its Light

Tonight I can write the saddest lines

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.

Write, for example,'The night is shattered
and the blue stars shiver in the distance.'

The night wind revolves in the sky and sings.

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.
I loved her, and sometimes she loved me too.

Through nights like this one I held her in my arms
I kissed her again and again under the endless sky.

She loved me sometimes, and I loved her too.
How could one not have loved her great still eyes.

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.
To think that I do not have her. To feel that I have lost her.

To hear the immense night, still more immense without her.
And the verse falls to the soul like dew to the pasture.

What does it matter that my love could not keep her.
The night is shattered and she is not with me.

This is all. In the distance someone is singing. In the distance.
My soul is not satisfied that it has lost her.

My sight searches for her as though to go to her.
My heart looks for her, and she is not with me.

The same night whitening the same trees.
We, of that time, are no longer the same.

I no longer love her, that's certain, but how I loved her.
My voice tried to find the wind to touch her hearing.

Another's. She will be another's. Like my kisses before.
Her voice. Her bright body. Her inifinite eyes.

I no longer love her, that's certain, but maybe I love her.
Love is so short, forgetting is so long.

Because through nights like this one I held her in my arms
my soul is not satisfied that it has lost her.

Though this be the last pain that she makes me suffer
and these the last verses that I write for her.

Anastasia - At the beginning with Lyrics in subtitles!!!

Disney - Wonderful Journey Lyrics
Album:

D: We were strangers, starting out on a journey
Never dreaming, what we'd have to go through
Now here we are and I'm suddenly standing
At the beginning with you

R: No one told me I was going to find you
Unexpected, what you did to my heart
When I lost hope, you were there to remind me
This is the start

Chorus (D & R)And life is a road that I want to keep going
Love is a river, I want to keep flowing
Life is a road, now and forever, wonderful journey
I'll be there when the world stops turning
I'll be there when the storm is through
In the end I wanna be standing
At the beginning with you

D: We were strangers, on a crazy adventure
R: Never dreaming, how our dreams would come true
D & R: Now here we stand, unafraid of the future
At the beginning with you

Back to Chorus

Bridge:D & R: Knew there was somebody, somewhere
A new love in the dark
Now I know my dream will live on
I've been waiting so long
Nothing is going to tear us apart

Chorus

In the end I want to be standing At the beginning with you...

Hua Mulan

Sunday. January 30, 2011.

After a long and tiring day for doing our wedding planning errands, Millet and I together with Buds watched one of the movies featured in the Spring Film Festival at Shangri-La Mall.

Since Millet and me loved the cartoon version so much, we have our high hopes with the movie. With the fierceness of Mulan's character that we can see ourselves to have the kind of spirit that she had to bear the grueling battle.

The movie did not fail to deliver. It showcased both the character of Mulan as fragile yet strong-willed.

It was a love story, yes, but is featured what love means - Love of Family, Love of Country, and Love for another human being - it also showed what Love can sacrifice in order to safe someone.

It was very inspiring and heart warming.

See trailers below:

UST Quadricentennial Party

January 28, 2011

Go USTe!

My heart shouts as I watch a live stream telecast of the Q Party Countdown. Thank goodness for technology, I was able to watch the Q Party event even if I am stucked at the office. Though I wasn't able to watch the full coverage, nevertheless it was entertaining.

At the end of the show, they sung the Tomasino Ako hymn...while listening to the song, I had goosebumps! I'm, brimming with pride as I listen to the music and lyrics, then it ended up with a beautiful fireworks display.

I am PROUD to be a THOMASIAN!

The University of Santo Tomas is the place where I learned the things I should know to face the "real" world and this is where I also found a great number of friends that also became my extended family...

THANK YOU UST FOR THE UNENDING GRACE AND FOR THE UNENDING MEMORIES!

VIVA SANTO TOMAS!

Goal Setting for 2011

Was browsing my blog subscription and saw this Goal Setting Tools by Manila Fitness and pondered I really haven't set my goals for this year.

HMMM.

But what about my 2010 goals? Have I accomplished something from my long list of goals from last year, let us see

1. Lose some weight - I was able to do so, but gained them back - though not all - towards the end of the year. ARGH!
2. Quit Smoking - I did that for a year - started december of 2009 - BUT smoked a stick or two because of stress. tsk tsk tsk
3. SAVE, SAVE, SAVE - managed to open an account but still struggling to keep them in.
4. Learn NEW things - was able to learn how to navigate PHOTOSHOP - yey! been doing some invitations, flyers, and all. But still I need and in depth training about this. Had a crash course with ADVANCE EXCEL as well.

I think, that's the four main areas of my life that excelled last year - Health, Financial, Education.

What about LOVE? hmmm...still in search of "the ONE" (enough, it will come in time..i HOPE so)

NOW, for this year's GOALS.

Let us reset EVERYTHING :) back to where it should be and pray that I can stand by it. I may or may not achieve them all at once but rest assured that I will pursue them ;)

It is never too late for my Mama

Who says my Mama can't pose?!

Soon after the Black Nazarene procession has left the Quirino Grandstand, we three left and headed towards Luneta Park.

And true to my word, hala andun sa monumento ni Gat Jose Rizal.

BOW!

Feast of the Black Nazarene

January 9, 2011. Sunday. Feast of the Black Nazarene.

Usapan namin na pupunta kami sa Quirino Grandstand ng 4:00am para sa Feast of the Black Nazarene.

Si ate nagising malamang ng 3:30am or even 3:00am; Me, I set my alarm at 3:30am, and as usual, dedma ako sa alarm!

Walked hanggang sa Quirino Grandstand, hanap ng magandang spot then yun, we settled down; actually my mom settled down kami ng ate ko tumayo lang.

The mass started at a quarter before 6:00am. ended up at a quarter before seven am. Then comes big roar of applause and shouting Viva! Viva! The procession followed soon after they have loaded the Black Nazarene. Uproar and waving of handkerchief were endless.

Renell and Evelyn's Wedding

January 8, 2011. I coordinated a wedding (day-itself-coordination only). This was my sister's colleague's wedding.

Technically, the wedding should have took place last December 11, 2010, but due to some unfortunate family matters on the bride's side, it was postponed and was rescheduled to a later date, which was January 8, 2011.

Honestly, turnover of paperworks were not that good, there were a lot of missed paperworks, but I just have to rely on my ability to pull things together.

Pangarap lang Kita Parokya ni Edgar

Your Song ( My one and only You) - parokya ni edgar

First Wednesday of the Year

January 5, 2010 - first Wednesday of the year.

And a good way to welcome it was to spend an hour or two at Baclaran Church. After shift, I went to Baclaran church to hear mass and pray the novena to our Lady of Perpetual Help. It dawned on me that ever since I professed my faith, it has been with Baclaran Church I take my refuge.

It is with this Church I came to learn how to pray the rosary. I can still recall when I was just a five-year old little girl, my mom would bring me to Baclaran Chruch with a bribe that we will eat at Jollibee afterwards-hahaha. A few years later, just about two years ago, we did the same thing - but this time we went malling to MOA. hahaha..What an irony.

Two years ago, when my career came tumbling down on me - and I thought everything is slipping away from me too - it is with this Church I draw my strength from, aside from Family and Friends who gave me their unending support and encouragement. It is where I questioned Him (I know, I shouldn't); it is also where I wished and prayed hard for His Divine Intervention.

And thankfully I did happened. Now, what happened two years ago was a thing from my past - where lessons have been learned and still being applied to daily life.
